Overview

The Sony Xperia 10 IV 5G is the upgrade from the much-loved Xperia 10 III and is a welcome addition to Sony’s budget series of mid-range phones. If you want to get 5G capabilities without forking out a fortune, it’s well worth a look.

When it comes to the display, there’s plenty of screen real estate provided by the phone’s 21:9 aspect ratio, and it boasts a bright and vivid 6-inch FullHD+ OLED screen. In fact, it’s 15% brighter than its predecessor, so you’ll have no problem using it in the sun.

The phone is rocking the Qualcomm Snapdragon 695 chipset, paired with 6GB RAM. The processor has a 6nm manufacturing technology making it much more efficient than previous chip generations, and so is more than capable of meeting the demands 5G usage will ask of it. It comes with 128GB of storage, and there’s a slot for a microSD card supporting an extra 1TB of space for your media.

The Xperia 10 IV’s triple camera array consists of a 16mm ultrawide lens, a 27mm main camera and 54mm telephoto unit. It’s a pretty flexible set-up and should please casual photographers in various settings. On the front there’s an 8MP selfie camera with an enhanced face sharpening algorithm.

There’s an audio jack for wired headphone lovers, and this being a phone from audio-giant Sony, it also features Sony’s DSEE Ultimate which uses AI to boost the audio quality of digital tracks.

When it comes to power, the battery is massive, despite it being a light phone (161g). Sony points out that it is “the world’s lightest 5G phone with a 5,000mAh battery”. With fast charging, this is a phone that should last you throughout the day and beyond, no problem.
