About Nokia

Nokia was once one of the biggest phone brands in the world, and it’s been making phones for longer than most companies – since long before smartphones were a thing.

These days though, following a period under Microsoft’s ownership, the Nokia phone brand is handled by a company called HMD Global. This company has launched numerous Nokia-branded smartphones, with a focus on low-end and mid-range handsets, coupled with slick software.

Which Nokia phones support 5G?

The Nokia X10, Nokia 8.3 5G, Nokia X20, Nokia XR20, and Nokia G50 all support 5G.

Which 5G Nokia phone should I choose?

There are a number of different 5G Nokia phones at a range of different prices, so which one you should choose depends on how much you want to spend, but they range from the Nokia 8.3 5G and Nokia X20 in the mid-range, to the Nokia G50 at the low end, and then there’s also the rugged Nokia XR20, which is built to last.

Top 5G Nokia phone

The Nokia 8.3 5G is the most high-end 5G Nokia phone at the time of writing, though it’s still a mid-ranger, as the company rarely launches flagship phones.

This has a large 6.81-inch 1080 x 2400 screen, a mid-range Snapdragon 765G chipset, a 4,500mAh battery, and a quad-lens camera, with a 64MP main sensor, a 12MP ultra-wide one, a 2MP macro one, and a 2MP depth one.

Most affordable 5G Nokia phone

The Nokia G50 is the cheapest 5G Nokia phone at the time of writing, and one of the cheapest 5G phones from any company.

It has a 6.82-inch 720 x 1560 screen, a triple-lens camera with a 48MP main snapper, a 5MP ultra-wide and a 2MP depth one, plus a big 5,000mAh battery (promising up to two days of life), and 64GB of storage, along with a microSD card slot.

Top value 5G Nokia phone

Arguably the Nokia 8.3 5G is the best value 5G Nokia phone, as while it’s among the most expensive, it still has just a lower mid-range price, and you get a lot of specs for your money.

Those include a quad-lens camera with a 64MP main sensor and Zeiss optics, plus a capable Snapdragon 765G chipset, a 6.81-inch 1080 x 2400 screen, and slick software that’s free of bloat.

Latest 5G Nokia phones

The affordable Nokia G50 is the latest 5G Nokia phone at the time of writing. This packs in a big, long-lasting battery, a large 6.82-inch screen and a triple-lens camera – plus 5G of course – all at a low price.

The durable Nokia XR20 landed just before this. It has water and drop resistance, plus a 6.67-inch 1080 x 2400 screen with tough Gorilla Glass Victus, a 48MP main camera, a 13MP ultra-wide one, a 4,630mAh battery, and a Snapdragon 480 5G chipset.

Nokia in summary

Nokia is a brand that has gone from strength to strength, adjusting its output as the industry moves on in order to stay relevant. In its current guise as a purveyor of affordable smartphones it excels, rivalling the likes of Motorola when it comes to excellent smartphone value.

So if you want a low-end or mid-range 5G phone then Nokia is a great brand to go for, but don’t count it out for high-end handsets either, as every now and then it launches one, and they’re usually good too.
