What plans are available with unlimited data?

Choose a SIM Only plan and you can get a 30-day one, or pay less per month for a 12-month or 24-month plan. If you’d rather go for a Pay Monthly plan with a phone then things are even more flexible, as you can choose from a 12, 18, 24, 30 or 36-month plan.

Note however that while Tesco Mobile offers a Pay As You Go service, you can’t get unlimited data with that at the time of writing, and the network doesn’t offer home broadband, mobile broadband, or data-only plans at all.

Are there any fair usage restrictions?

Tesco Mobile offers truly unlimited data with no real fair usage restrictions in the UK, and even abroad it’s less restrictive than most networks, basically just saying that you should only be using its inclusive roaming for periodic travelling, and that if you’re abroad more than in the UK over a rolling four-month period then you will have exceeded Tesco’s fair use policy.

Are there any speed restrictions?

No, Tesco Mobile won’t restrict your speeds at all – so data can travel extremely fast when you have a 5G signal.

Is unlimited tethering included?

Yes, you can tether as much as you want, and that’s the case even when you have unlimited data.

Can unlimited data be used abroad?

Yes, unlike most networks Tesco Mobile hasn’t put a fair usage limit on data when abroad at the time of writing, though does state that you should be using its network more in the UK then abroad, more details of which can be found in the fair usage section above.

Is 5G data included?

Yes, 5G comes as standard on Tesco Mobile’s plans.

Are unlimited plans available with a multi-plan discount?

Yes, Tesco Mobile offers Family Pack SIMs which charge the first SIM £30 per month, but additional SIMs just £10 per month, and you can add up to five SIMs in total. So if you add the maximum amount then the total cost will amount to just £14 per person – all of whom will get unlimited data.

Can I gift data on an unlimited plan?

No, the only network that allows that at the time of writing is EE. Of course, since there aren’t any tethering restrictions you could share your data by tethering.

Alternatives

Since Tesco Mobile uses O2’s coverage, you can get the same coverage from O2 itself, or from Giffgaff or Lyca Mobile – both of which also offer unlimited 5G data plans.

If affordability is more important than O2’s coverage specifically, then consider Smarty, Asda Mobile or VOXI, all of which are typically very affordable.
