Spusu 5G Coverage

Spusu is an MVNO (mobile virtual network operator) that has the same coverage as EE, meaning at the time of writing that you can expect its 5G coverage to extend beyond 87% of the UK’s population.

That will improve over time too, so it’s a good choice if you value 5G. Below though, you’ll find more details about Spusu, including further information on its coverage, speeds, and the frequencies it uses.

While Spusu’s coverage is extensive, it’s not available everywhere, so to check there’s 5G or 4G coverage where you need it, just enter a postcode in the coverage checker box at the top of this page.

That will then show you Spusu’s coverage in that area, broken down into 5G and 4G coverage, and compared to the UK’s other networks.

We use data from both the mobile networks themselves and independent sources for this, and with real-time data included too, it’s the most up-to-date and accurate coverage picture you’re likely to get.

How does Spusu's 5G coverage compare to others?

For a broader comparison of Spusu’s 5G coverage to that of the other UK networks, you can check the charts below, which detail the major towns and cities each UK network has 5G coverage in.

Spusu has the same number of locations as EE below:

In the chart below, you’ll find a full list of these towns and cities – if there’s a tick beside one in EE’s column, that means Spusu should have 5G there too.

But the most recent places to get Spusu 5G coverage (via EE) as of April 2026 include Llandudno, parts of the Outer Hebrides, and Tonbridge.

4G coverage

You can of course also get 4G and 2G on Spusu, with these network technologies being what you’ll fall back on when you’re somewhere with no 5G coverage.

Spusu through EE has around 99% population coverage with 4G, so you should almost always have some sort of signal.

How fast is Spusu’s 5G network?

EE’s average 5G download speed

EE’s median 5G download speed

EE’s max 5G download speed

96.8Mbps (Opensignal)

241.2Mbps (RootMetrics)

753Mbps (Point Topic)

While Spusu’s network hasn’t been subject to many independent 5G speed tests, EE’s has, giving us an indication of what you can expect.

This includes Ookla testing from the second half of 2025, in which EE’s median 5G download speed was found to be 97.96Mbps and its 90th percentile 5G download speed was found to be 326.01Mbps.

More impressively, some RootMetrics testing from the first half of 2025 found that EE’s median 5G download speed was 241.2Mbps. That’s the highest of any network in that test. This RootMetrics report additionally found that EE’s 95th percentile 5G speed (in other words almost its highest) was 730.1Mbps, and that its 5th percentile 5G speed (meaning almost its lowest) was 27.9Mbps.

As impressive as those results are, a much older Point Topic study from September 2020 found that EE’s maximum 5G download speed was even higher at 753Mbps, so that’s what we’ve included as the network’s maximum recorded speed in the chart above.

There are also some Opensignal results from September 2024, which put EE’s average 5G download speed at 96.8Mbps.

Latency

Latency is the time it takes for a network to respond to a request to transfer data, so this can also affect how fast a network feels.

For that, a 2023 Speedtest report found that EE’s median was 30ms (milliseconds) when unloaded.

But for loaded latency (meaning the latency when the connection is under heavy load), a 2025 Ookla report put EE’s at 583.53ms. This is all relevant as Spusu’s latency is likely to be similar to EE’s.

Unloaded latency on 4G tends to be around 30-50ms, so this is at the very least at the low end of that, with lower being better here.

What frequencies/bands does Spusu use?

2G and 4G

800MHz

4G

700MHz

5G

The chart above lists all of the frequencies that EE uses, and presumably Spusu has access to all the same ones since it shares EE’s network.

When it comes to 5G, that means the 40GHz, 26GHz, 3.4GHz, 3.6GHz, and 700MHz bands.

With the exception of 700MHz, those are all either fairly or very high frequency, which suits 5G well because these bands have lots of available capacity, which helps ensure the highest possible speeds and strong reliability.

The 700MHz band though can help address some of the weaknesses of high frequency spectrum, specifically that signals at high frequencies don’t travel as far and can be more easily blocked by obstacles.

In total, EE has access to 1GHz of 40GHz spectrum, 800MHz of 26GHz spectrum, 40Mhz of 3.4GHz spectrum, 40MHz of 3.6GHz spectrum, and 40MHz of 700MHz spectrum, totalling 1,920MHz, so that’s presumably what Spusu has available for use too.

For comparison, O2 and its MVNOs have that same total figure, while the combined VodafoneThree network has 2,030MHz.

We may well see these networks acquire more 5G spectrum at future 5G spectrum auctions though.
