Lebara is one of many UK networks that offers both 5G and plans with unlimited data, which is a combination that’s worth considering, as these two things are a perfect pairing, and help you get the most out of your smartphone.

You won’t need to worry about using up your data allowance no matter how much you stream, download, web browse or play online, and with 5G all of those things will happen faster, more smoothly, or in higher quality.

But as noted, Lebara isn’t the only network to offer this combination, so is it the network you should choose? Below we’ve detailed everything about its unlimited 5G data plans so you can decide.

The only way to get unlimited 5G data on Lebara is with a SIM-only plan. The network also offers Pay As You Go, but with no bundles – you just pay for what you use, and it sells a small selection of phones, but these are bought either outright or over three payments with a loan – not a contract as such.

So there are no real pay monthly handset plans, and no home broadband, mobile broadband, or data only.

Why choose Lebara unlimited data

Lebara uses Vodafone’s infrastructure, which means that it offers 5G (as well as 4G and 3G) in all the same places, and with Vodafone being a major network, its 5G coverage is widespread, and rapidly growing.

So that’s one good reason to pick a Lebara plan, but there are plenty more, including the fact that Lebara’s plans are just 30 days long, so you’re not committed to a contract. As a result there also aren’t any credit checks with Lebara, so anyone can get accepted.

Plus, Lebara’s unlimited 5G data plans also come with unlimited minutes and texts, and its plans also include free international minutes in 42 countries, so it’s a great choice if you regularly call abroad.

Lebara also lets you roam in India (among other destinations) at no extra cost, which is a rare country to be included as standard.

Are there any fair usage restrictions?

Fair usage in the UK

Fair usage abroad

None

Variable in Europe, up to 10GB of data in India

Lebara doesn’t have a fair usage policy for unlimited data in the UK, so you can use as much data as you want (as long as you’re not using it for fraudulent purposes).

In Europe, the fair use limit depends on the price of your plan. At the time of writing there are two unlimited data options – one for £25 with a 15.7GB fair use limit, and one for £30 with an 18.8GB fair use limit. When roaming in India meanwhile you can use up to 10GB of data at no extra cost on either plan.

Are there any speed restrictions?

No, Lebara doesn’t cap or limit your speed, so if you have a 5G device on an unlimited data plan then you can use as much data as you want at maximum speeds.

Is unlimited tethering included?

Lebara doesn’t specify its tethering terms, so presumably unlimited tethering is included – meaning you’ll be able to use your phone to get tablets, laptops, and other gadgets online wherever you are, as much as you want. However, if this is of major importance it’s worth confirming with the network directly.

Can unlimited data be used abroad?

Lebara applies a fair use cap when roaming abroad, and this stands at 10GB in India, and a variable level (depending on the price of your plan) in Europe. At the time of writing you can use up to 18.8GB on the £30 unlimited data plan, and 15.7GB on the £25 one.

Is 5G data included?

Yes, Lebara offers 5G as standard on its unlimited data plans, so you won’t have to pay extra or select a 5G option.

Are unlimited plans available with a multi-plan discount?

Lebara doesn’t offer a multi-plan discount, so you won’t save money by adding multiple plans to your account, though Lebara is already a fairly affordably priced network.

Can I gift data on an unlimited plan?

No, Lebara doesn’t offer data gifting. For that, consider EE. That said, you can always tether your phone to other devices and share your data that way.

Vodafone is an obvious alternative to Lebara since they have the same coverage. You won’t get free international calls or free roaming in India as standard, however there is a wider range of plans on Vodafone, including smartphones available on contract.

You could also consider VOXI, which offers affordable plans with the same coverage as Vodafone.

There are many other options too, as you can see in the chart above, including many networks with 5G coverage in different areas to Lebara.
