The Google Pixel 6 is designed to give you the best of Google in a smartphone, and that starts with the software. This runs Android 12, while many Android phones are still on older versions of the operating system. And when Android 13 and beyond launch it will run those on day one too, while other phones typically take months to get updated.
Google will also keep the Pixel 6 updated for longer than most phones, so you’ll be getting new software and features for years to come.
Then there’s the hardware, with Google equipping the Pixel 6 with a chipset it built itself, called the Google Tensor. This is designed from the ground up for the Pixel 6, and it’s built to enable advanced AI and machine learning features, which allows for things like faster and more accurate speech recognition (speeding up and improving Google Assistant and allowing for live translation services).
This also allows the camera to take photos that look more like what you see with your eyes, and speaking of the camera, there’s a powerful 50MP main sensor here, paired with a capable 12MP ultra-wide one.
The Google Pixel 6 also has a 6.4-inch 1080 x 2400 OLED screen with a 90Hz refresh rate and HDR10+ support, so all your content looks great. And with up to 256GB of storage there’s no worry about running out of space.
Of course we’ve also got to talk about the design, which is very different to most other phones, thanks to an unusual visor-like camera block and a colour scheme that involves three different shades, in a range of possible combinations. It’s a fun, playful look and a great match for Google’s latest software.
