iD Mobile unlimited data
iD Mobile offers two of the best things you can get on a smartphone contract – 5G and unlimited data. With both of those you’ll have all you need to supercharge your mobile experience, as you’ll have access to the highest data speeds possible with no limits on how much data you can use.
It’s an intoxicating combination, and while iD Mobile isn’t the only network to offer these two services, there are some reasons why you might want to choose iD Mobile over rival networks – and some reasons why you might not.
So to help you decide whether iD Mobile’s unlimited 5G data plans are right for you, we’ve detailed everything about them below.
What plans are available with unlimited data?

With iD Mobile you can get unlimited 5G data on either a Pay Monthly plan with a handset, or on a SIM-only plan. The former all last 24 months and cost more because you’re paying for a handset as well as your allowances. The latter can be more flexible, with plans of 1, 12 or 24 months – though the longer you commit to, the lower the monthly price.
iD Mobile also offers unlimited data bundles for Pay As You Go, however these don’t include 5G data, so you’re limited to 4G there.
The network doesn’t have any home broadband, mobile broadband, or data only offerings at the time of writing.
Why choose iD Mobile unlimited data
iD Mobile has the same coverage as Three, and that’s a good thing, as Three has been rapidly expanding its 5G coverage, with hundreds of towns and cities offering it and more getting it all the time.
With iD Mobile you also get to choose from a variety of plan durations (at least on SIM-only), so you can tailor the plan to your needs – balancing cost with how long you’re willing to commit for.
iD Mobile is also competitively priced, so you can be confident that you won’t be getting overcharged for its unlimited 5G data plans (or for any other plan on the network).
Unlimited calls and texts also come as standard, plus you can cap your bill to avoid any surprise charges, and the network offers data rollover – though that last perk is only relevant if you choose a plan with limited data.
Are there any fair usage restrictions?
Fair usage in the UK |
Fair usage abroad |
---|---|
None |
Variable roaming limit and must demonstrate UK ties if roaming extensively |
iD Mobile doesn’t restrict your data usage at all in the UK, but when roaming things get a little bit more complicated.
For one thing there’s a limit on how much data you can use abroad, but that limit varies based on the price of your plan. To check yours, head to this page. As an example though, at the time of writing you can get an unlimited data SIM-only 1-month plan for £20, and that comes with a 15.44GB roaming allowance.
The other fair usage restriction is that you should use your phone in the UK more than abroad over any four-month period or you may be required to prove you have strong ties to the UK.
Are there any speed restrictions?
No, if you have 5G data on iD Mobile then you’ll be getting the highest possible speeds, no matter how much data you use.
Is unlimited tethering included?
Yes, you can tether as much as you want on iD Mobile, so if you have unlimited data then this can be a great alternative to a dedicated mobile broadband device. It could even make for a temporary alternative to home internet.
Of course, unlimited tethering is only allowed in the UK. When abroad there’s a variable limit, which you can read more about below.
Can unlimited data be used abroad?
You can’t use unlimited data abroad on iD Mobile, but the exact amount you can use varies based on how much your plan costs, so it’s not the same amount for everyone on an unlimited data plan. While this is a more complicated setup than most networks, it’s worth noting that having data limits when roaming is fairly standard, with most networks having them.
Is 5G data included?
Yes, if you get a SIM-only plan or a Pay Monthly plan with a smartphone then you’ll get 5G data included as standard on iD Mobile – though obviously you’ll also need a 5G phone to use it.
Are unlimited plans available with a multi-plan discount?
No, you won’t get any discounts or other benefits for adding multiple SIMs to your iD Mobile account, but the network is already among the more affordable ones.
Can I gift data on an unlimited plan?
iD Mobile doesn’t offer data gifting, but nor do most other networks aside from EE. However, since unlimited tethering is offered you can share your data this way.

Since iD Mobile uses Three’s infrastructure, that numerical network is a great alternative if you want the same coverage. On Three you’ll also benefit from a wider range of plan types, and perks like the Three+ app – though prices are often higher.
Alternatively, you might want to consider Smarty, which also uses Three’s infrastructure and offers extremely competitive pricing, though only a small number of plans, and just SIM-only.
If your coverage needs are different, then consider one of the other networks in the chart above offering unlimited 5G data.
