Three’s 5G network is landing in August, so it’s very nearly here, but you don’t even need to wait until then to get a 5G phone on Three, as the Huawei Mate 20 X 5G is out now on the network.

This is an exciting phone in all sorts of ways, because as well as supporting 5G speeds, it also has an enormous 7.2-inch screen, making it one of the biggest phones around. That’s an OLED screen with a 1080 x 2244 resolution and HDR10 support, so the quality is high too.

The Huawei Mate 20 X 5G also has a top-flight camera, with three lenses on the back. These include a 40MP f/1.8 main lens, an 8MP f/2.4 telephoto one and a 20MP f/2.2 ultra-wide one. So it’s exceedingly versatile and also capable of great selfies, thanks to a 24MP f/2.0 camera on the front.

The Mate 20 X 5G looks great too, with tiny bezels and just a small waterdrop notch at the top, so even though it’s big, there’s no wasted space.

It’s power-packed, with a top-end Kirin 980 chipset paired with 8GB of RAM, and it has a battery capable of keeping it going a long time, thanks to a big 4,200mAh capacity. The Huawei Mate 20 X 5G also has 256GB of storage, room for expansion, stereo speakers for great sound, and a fingerprint scanner.

Lots of options and a free stylus

If you want to get the Huawei Mate 20 X 5G on Three now it starts at £48 per month with £79 upfront. That gets you 4GB of monthly data, but you can also get unlimited data at just £30.50 for the first six months (rising to £61 after that), along with £79 upfront.

And the first thousand customers to buy the phone from Three will get the Huawei M-Pen thrown in, so you can really make the most of that big screen.

Not the phone for you? Don’t worry – Three will also be stocking the Samsung Galaxy S10 5G and Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 5G soon, with more sure to follow. And with 5G also available on SIM Only (and at no extra cost) you also have the option to buy a 5G phone elsewhere and just grab a SIM card on Three.

Of course, whatever you do it’s worth being aware that there won’t be 5G coverage everywhere on day one, but Three looks set to potentially build its coverage faster than most rivals, with London getting 5G first but 24 more locations set to get it by the end of 2019.
