5G home broadband has long served as an alternative to fibre broadband, and an ideal choice for anyone limited to otherwise slow home broadband speeds. But of course, 5G home broadband has also been a bit limited in who can get it, as your home needs to be able to get a 5G signal.
That’s still a problem now, but slightly less of one on Three, as the network has just launched the Three 5G Outdoor Hub – a 5G home broadband hub that you install outside of your property rather than inside, so that it can more easily connect to any 5G coverage.
And beyond providing an alternative to fibre broadband, another advantage of 5G broadband is that it’s quick and easy to get up and running, with no engineer required, and the Three 5G Outdoor Hub is no exception to that.
Sure, it requires a bit more setup than just plugging it in, but Three has made things as simple as possible, while giving you four setup options, so it should be easy to install outside any home.
Four ways to get 5G
You can attach it to an outside wall and feed the cable through a closed window, or you can attach it to a supplied bracket which can then be secured to a drain pipe or other pole.
Another option is to attach it directly to a window and then feed the cable inside through the window – which won’t affect window seals or drafts. And finally, you can use it like a more conventional 5G home broadband hub and put it on a stand inside your home, but then you’re losing the benefits of this being an outdoor hub.
Whatever option you choose, you then connect the Three 5G Outdoor Hub to an Eero Wi-Fi router (which is also supplied). That sits inside your home like any other router, and beams out a 5G signal to all your gadgets.
So if you haven’t been able to get 5G home broadband previously, it’s worth seeing if the Three 5G Outdoor Hub solves that problem.
